Your history lives with you.
Placeloader stores your saved places, visits, and location history in an encrypted database on your device. Background location helps it notice when you arrive and leave, including when the app is closed.
Backup is a separate choice.
The app includes optional encrypted backup. When available and enabled, your phone encrypts the backup before upload using a recovery phrase you hold. Production cloud service is still being prepared.
Turning backup off stops future uploads. It does not by itself delete backups already stored remotely.
Connected features make requests.
Google Maps provides maps. Address searches go to OpenStreetMap Nominatim. If you enable place suggestions, stopped-at coordinates go to Google Places. If you enable route snapping, trip endpoints go to a Valhalla routing service.
These services receive request information such as an IP address. Optional suggestions and route snapping can be turned off independently.
You can change your mind.
Pause tracking, change Android location permissions, export your history, or delete the data on your device. Account and remote backup deletion are separate from local deletion.
